Sjaarspieten of the Past

The longer one hangs around students, it becomes increasingly obvious how attached they are to their traditions. Intermate, and it's students are no exception to this. One of the crowd favorite traditions this time of year is the Sinterklaas drink, where an older intermate-member dresses up as Sinterklaas (real Sinterklaas was too expensive) and two Sjaars are asked to annoy everyone (their specialty) as Pieten. We affectionately dub them “Sjaarspieten”. Who the Sjaarspieten are is always a surprise until the borrel itself, adding even more entertainment for twaars, draars and vaars (is that a thing? It should be) as they place bets on which sjaars will be the Pieten this year.  

In honour of last week's Sinterklaas Drink, we thought people might appreciate a look back in time to Sjaarspieten of the last 5 years.
